The application and other related forms are not downloadable and are included in the printed Guidelines for Applicants.
To obtain them, please send a request to the Student Affairs Section, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences.
※ The Examination for Academic Year 2018 will hold on August 2017 (schedule A) and February 2018 (schedule B).

Obtaining Guidelines for Applicants and Entrance Examination Guides

There are two ways to obtain these materials:

1. Pick up in person at the Kashiwa Campus

Guidelines for Applicants and Entrance Examination Guides of different departments are available at the Student Affairs Section, GSFS Office Hours: 9:00-12:00, 13:00-17:00, Monday thru Friday except holidays.
Note: These materials are also available at briefing sessions.

2. Request by post

Outside Japan

If your mailing address is outside Japan, please request the Guidelines for Applicants only since you can download the Entrance Examination Guides from this website.The postage rate varies depending on the country and the desired department. Also, the postage must be paid by International Reply Coupons (IRCs). Please send the Student Affairs Section* a completed “Request of Guidelines for Applicants” and the required number of IRCs as shown in the following table. The materials will be sent to you by Express Mailing Service (EMS) after we receive them.

Inside Japan

If your mailing address is in Japan, please send the Student Affairs Section, GSFS a completed "Request of Guidelines for Applicants " and one return-mail envelope (Kaku-2 size: 240 x 332 for A4 size documents) with your name, address written on the front side affixed with a JPY 350 stamp to request both the Guidelines for Applicants and the Entrance Examination Guides (a JPY 250 stamp to request the Guidelines for Applicants only). Also, be sure to specify the following items on the return-mail envelope in red:
 (1) Course desired (Master or Doctor)
 (2) Department name desired

Please note that the standard request and the required affixed stamp amount apply to one (1) set of Guidelines for Applicants and one (1) Entrance Examination Guide mailed within Japan. If you want to obtain more materials than this, please consult  the Student Affairs Section. If you want the materials sent by express mail, please affix an extra JPY 320 stamp (JPY 670 total) to the return-mail envelope.

Master Course

Application Period 15th Jun 2017 - 21th Jun 2017.
Examination Schedule Examinations will be held at the Kashiwa Campus according to the following schedule.Applicants will be notified of the details such as the examination venue when exam tickets are issued in late July.

* August 1, 2017 Tuesday 9:30-11:30 Specialty Subjects
            12:30-14:50 Foreign Language (TOEFL-ITP)
* August 2, 2017 Wednesday 16:00- Oral examination (Bio-IP Course)
* August 3, 2017 Thursday 10:00- Oral examination (except for Bio-IP Course)

*Those who did not choose TOEFL-ITP in the section of “Foreign Language Tests”in “Inquiry Sheet (Master Course)”are exempt from the examination of Foreign Language (TOEFL-ITP).
*Only successful candidates passing the written exam can proceed to the 2nd-stage screening,i.e. the oral examination.

 

Doctoral Course

Application Period 15th Jun 2017 - 21th Jun 2017 for schedule A
21th Nov 2017 – 28th Nov 2017 for schedule B (MS/BIP only)
Examination Schedule Examinations will be held at the Kashiwa Campus according to the following schedule. The venue for the oral examination may be subject to change. Applicants will be notified of the details such as the examination venue when exam tickets are issued in late July.

Schedule A
 August 1, 2017 Tuesday 9:30-11:30 Specialty Subjects (A or B)
             12:30-14:50 Foreign Language (TOEFL-ITP)
 August 2, 2017 Wednesday 16:00- Oral examination (Bio-IP Course)
 August 3, 2017 Thursday 13:00- Oral examination (applicants correspond to *1, *2, and *3)
 Early in February, 2017 (tentative) Oral examination (applicants correspond to *4)

Schedule B
 Early in February, 2017 (tentative) Oral examination (applicants correspond to *5)
*Those who did not choose TOEFL-ITP in the section of “Foreign Language Tests”in “Inquiry Sheet (Doctoral Course)”are exempt from the examination of Foreign Language (TOEFL-ITP).
*Only successful candidates passing the written exam can proceed to the 2nd-stage screening,i.e. the oral examination.
In the following, MS, CB and BIO-IP applicants refer to those who apply to Group of Medical Sciences,Group of Computational Biology and BIO-IP course, respectively.
*1: Applicants who wish to enroll in September 2017 must indicate it in the relevant section of the“Inquiry Sheet (Doctoral Course)”. For those who wish to enroll in September 2017, the oral examination will be held in August 2017. For those who wish to enroll in April 2018, the time of oral interview is different depending on whether you already have a master degree or not. If you have a master degree, it is in August 2017, otherwise it is in February 2018.
*2: Basically, the oral examination for CB applicants will be held in August 2017. Exceptionally, those who are expected to complete a master program in our department takes it in February 2018.
*3: Even if you do not have a master degree yet,we might still admit for you to take the oral examination in August 2016 under special circumstances. Please contact us for this option.
*4: MS applicants who are expected to complete a master program in March 2018,and MS applicants who are expected to graduate from a six-year undergraduate course in medical, dentistry, veterinarian, or medicine take the oral examination in February 2018.
*5: MS & Bio-IP applicants who wish to enroll in September 2018 must indicate it in the relevant section of the“Inquiry Sheet (Doctoral Course)”.
*For schedule B: The announcement will be sent with the examination admission ticket enclosed in the information packet.
