Those who apply to the doctoral course
Candidates who have graduated from (or will have graduated from) the master course in the Department of Computational Biology and Medical Sciences in the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, the University of Tokyo are exempted from submitting an English scores. Graduates of the pre-merger Medical Genomics dept or Computational Biology dept are also eligible for the exemption.
Applicants for the Biomedical Innovation Course who have completed (or will have completed) a master course at the University of Tokyo are also exempted from submitting English scores.

Those who apply to master course
No exemption. All applicants including those residing in English-speaking countries, must submit their English scores.

TOEFL (iBT)
Please ask ETS to send your Official Score Reports directly to our graduate school. Use the following codes for TOEFL Institutional Score Report address (GSFS will not be able to confirm your score if you use a code other than the below). You must submit the codes by the application deadline.
DI (Designated Institution) code: “8001”, Department code: “99”

Please ask ETS to send your score to Graduate School of Frontier Science, UTokyo by the application deadline. If you do so, the score certificate will reach us before we actually need it.
If you fail to submit the web submission English score by the application deadline, it is quite likely that you cannot proceed to the next stage, the written exam or the oral exam.
