I heard that some people are exempted from submitting English proficiency scores, but what kind of applicants are exempted from submitting English scores?

Those who apply to the doctoral course
Candidates who have graduated from (or will have graduated from) the master course in the Department of Computational Biology and Medical Sciences in the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, the University of Tokyo are exempted from submitting an English scores. Graduates of the pre-merger Medical Genomics dept or Computational Biology dept are also eligible for the exemption.
Applicants for the Biomedical Innovation Course who have completed (or will have completed) a master course at the University of Tokyo are also exempted from submitting English scores.

Those who apply to master course
No exemption. All applicants including those residing in English-speaking countries, must submit their English scores.

How can I send the original official certificate of English score reports?

TOEFL (iBT)
Please ask ETS to send your Official Score Reports directly to our graduate school. Use the following codes for TOEFL Institutional Score Report address (GSFS will not be able to confirm your score if you use a code other than the below). You must submit the codes by the application deadline.
DI (Designated Institution) code: “8001”, Department code: “99”

 
Please ask IIBC following the instructions provided on the Score Confirmation Service in Secure Program page (Presented in Japanese). The application code for the graduate school entrance examination of this department is "00027405".
I have both TOEFL iBT and TOEIC L&R scores. Which is more advantageous for me to submit?
How we handle your English score is not disclosed.
However, when more than one score is submitted, we will select the one that is most advantageous to the applicant and use it as the score for the test. so please submit both scores if you have any concerns.
I have one score with a higher score in Reading and another with a higher score in Listening. Which is more advantageous for me to submit?

Sending the official score certificate of TOEFL takes too long. Can I submit it later than the deadline?

Please ask ETS to send your score to Graduate School of Frontier Science, UTokyo by the application deadline. If you do so, the score certificate will reach us before we actually need it.

I cannot file my web submission English score by the deadline. Will I be screened out automatically?

If you fail to submit the web submission English score by the application deadline, it is quite likely that you cannot proceed to the next stage, the written exam or the oral exam.

I have lived in an English-speaking country for prolonged time. Do I still have to take the test and submit the score?

Yes. We still need your score.

I am from an English-speaking country and am a native speaker of English. Do I still need to submit an English proficiency score, such as the TOEFL iBT?
Yes, unfortunately. We understand your frustration; however, the current admissions policy requires you to submit an English proficiency score. This requirement may change in the future, but for now, submission is still necessary.
I have sent my English proficiency score, but I’m worried that it may not have been submitted correctly. Could you please confirm whether you have received it?
Unfortunately, we are unable to confirm the receipt of your score immediately on our end.
In the unlikely event that your score has not been submitted, we will contact you.Therefore, please check your settings to ensure that you can receive emails from @edu.k.u-tokyo.ac.jp and @k.u-tokyo.ac.jp.
