How much does my English score weigh in the document-based screening?

We do not disclose how we evaluate individual applicants in the first-stage screening based on the submitted documents.
You can ask GSFS to disclose your raw scores a few weeks after we officially announce the list of accepted applicants.

What is the minimum TOEFL score?

We do not disclose the minimum TOEFL score.
The quota is determined by MEXT, and we usually cannot accept significantly more students than the quota. This implies that if too many applicants take higher scores than you, you would fail even if you take a high score. Therefore, we cannot guarantee anything based on the absolute score.
At least, we expect that you are at the university level of proficiency.

Do you only use English proficiency test scores in the first-stage screening?

We may consider all submitted materials including the English proficiency test scores.

Is the document-based first-stage screening absolute rating or relative rating?

Relative.
Note that this only means that we do compare between applicants, and that we do not have a pre-determined absolute threshold. This would never imply that we always accept applicants up to a certain number, such as up to the quota.
